can you use a type f transmission oil in a jack and yes i know hydraulic jack oil would be ideal but i have several quarts of type f collecting dust on the shelf in my shop

They are collecting dust for a reason. Jacks get hydraulic oil.

May I suggest that if a common floor or bottle jack needs oil there's a problem that probably means you should throw it out OR if a real high end one with parts available go ahead and fix it and ALWAYS use real jack stands on proper surface!
