turbo Sign In

Hi everyone I'm looking for some advice with a turbo problem I have. Basically I bought a Renault espace 2005 2.2 diesel 66k last week test drove it and seam fine no noises or lack of power. I then drove home 20mins and as soon as I reached over 60mph I noticed smoke from exhaust pull over and noticed a lot of oil. I took the car straight to garage and they say we need new turbo £1250. The problem is we can't afford the cost we bought the car to take kids to euro Disney and worried that we would have to cancel holidays which would really upset 3 kids. I have priced around garages and they all say same cost and looked into removing turbo and sent away to rebuild wondering if this would be possible and cheaper. Also would the guy who sold the car been able to modifiy the car for the sale to hide damaged turbo. Any help would be massively appreciated thanks noel.

I don't know what sort of help you are expecting. If the car needs a new turbo, then it needs a new turbo. I wouldn't look and rebuilding a unit unless you want to be faced with this all over again in the near future.

Re: turbo Sign In

You shouldn't drive the car till you get the turbo problem solved. You get enough oil leaking out of the turbo compressor seal and you'll could end up with a run away and major engine damage.

Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
