Hey i've been reading a couple posts in here about a car not passing because of failing emmissions tests. Here in pennsylvania if you drove your car for less than 5,000 miles your vehicle is exempt from the emmission test. So if you do drive over 5,000 a year you can just simply disconnect your odometer once you reach around 4,500 Cool

I have to do this like every year.

Note: I'm not sure this is 100% legal but you can get away with it. lol Just remember to re-connect it before you drive it to get it inspected! Cool

Of course it's not legal or at least moral. That wouldn't work on lots of cars as the vehicle speed has a lot to do with lots of other things and the car wouldn't run worth a damn.

Most cars are worth just servicing to make them pass and will run their best that way too. There is a problem in Massachusetts that cars from 1984 up must be tested and now the standards are so hard to meet with these cars if they were new it would be tough. They really want older cars off the road here. 96 and models the computer tells the inspection station a report on the history of the vehicle and if it has been cleared you won't pass even it nothing is wrong. Big brother government must know best????

Ya in pennsylvania they don't do that. Seems like pa is pretty laid back compared to other states. If my vehicle would get an emissions test its pretty basic all they do is check to see if emissions control components are installed on the car, make sure no fumes are escaping from the gas tank, and put a probe in the tailpipe to measure pollutants.

Hey, It's better to get your emission test done as it is the best way to know whats needs to be done with your vehicles and get the problem fixed within a month or two.

OK Mr Rogers. Now you are posting useless info to a 3 year old thread. I'm not seeing much value in your postings so far.
