Driving Ticket fine increase in NJ
Starting on August 15th, 2006 the price of a ticket for violation of NJ Law39:3-29 (failure to show your driver's license, registration, or insurance card at the time you are stopped) is going from $44.00 to $173.00. Please make sure your vehicles have the proper documents in them. If you jump in the car to run to the store and forget your wallet with your license in it and you are stopped.... Oh well... you just spent $173. And the fine for not having all three documents is $519!!! Forward to people in NJ, and let them know of this change. And be careful, the fine for hand held cell phone use while driving will be going up to $180.00.

The fines have gone way up here in Massachusetts too. I have a clean record but the fines are nuts! Just of Interest: The RMV (Registry of Motor Vehicles) is #2 to income tax in this state for revenue!! You can renew your driver's license on line and they could care less if you can drive just send in the money!! It's illegal for the agency to collect more that it costs to run it but good luck trying to stop it. Arggh, T

Not a problem Tony. It's actually nice to know what a newcomer sees and goes thru at the site. I'm surprised you could NOT delete your own post - you certainly should be able to "edit" your own. Maybe if even one person has seen it then it must stick - dunno. This site and formats at others try to use that "quote" thing and I personally don't find that a handy feature. Take no offense from me please. I'm glad you found the site - enjoy it, T
