PLEASE help,
I took on the job of swapping an engine for a friend :(. Now the problem is he has a 1986 Olds Brougham with a 3.8 engine. He brought me a 1972 chevy 350. I can fabricate the motor mounts if need be and possibly a trans cross member. But i am having a huge issue with the fuel pump hitting on the passenger side since the 3.8 was mounted on the front driver. Any help would be greatly appreciated before I break out the cutting wheel.

Are you kidding me? You have a computer operated FWD car with a tranverse mounted V6 and you want to install a RWD V8 with no computer?

It would be easier to build the pyramids from scratch. Tell him to buy a new car.

You still have a big problem. The gas tank, exhaust system, cooling system, suspension, electrical will all be wrong. Unless you're related to Macgyver, give it up.

Then you shouldn't need us because believe me, I would never attempt it.

Dear S H S N , You are finding out the joys and the heartbreaks of rodding. Its not something you learn from a book, take classes and get certified in,or get answers on whats the next step from a Forum .You will learn by doing . You will undo as much as you do. If you have the ability , can visalize and have the equipment, you can have the satisifacation of saying I BUILT THAT sometimes , other times you will take a torch to the POS. Some of my adventures : A 400 mouse motor in a MGB, big block in a chevette, 750 cc motorcycle eng in a go cart frame . 470 ci aircraft eng on my airboat . THe MGB worked you just could not drive it.It would break loose at the touch of throttle. So..............have fun.DO IT SAFE. remember this ..........The rules are changeing , there are fewer and fewer places you will be able to legally drive your car.
