Does anyone know about power steering pumps/hoses for a 99 vw jetta? while driving, the car started to whine when accelerating, and also when turning to either side. by the time we had gone 2 miles, it was very difficult to turn the steering wheel. possibly the pump has gone out; no notice of fluids leaking out prior to this, but now reservoir is empty. seems like leak came from cv joint--does that mean it isn't the pump?

There should be two hoses to power steering pump, one pressure and one low pressure return line. There may be a remote reservoir with another hose to fill it.

Dry everything oily that is highest and most forward the best add fluid and look. It could leak over a CV boot but not in it. The power rack and pinion could be the leak too, T
