I am going to an auto tech school now and don't have many tools. I'm looking to start a career in the auto tech field and was wondering what are the main tools (besides ratchets sockets and wrenches) that i will need.

You're going to need some air tools and impact sockets too. There are numerous different styles of wrenches and sockets that you will need. Don't forget the special scokets like allens, torx, double square, inside torx, tamper proof torx. etc, etc. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

You can get a basic set like HT has suggested....As far as the specialty stuff...You can use a system my buddy used....If you have to borrow that tool 2 or 3 times from another tech in a 1 month period....You need to buy that tool.. Getting all Snap On would be the best way to go but most young techs can't afford that.....Craftsman is a decent brand...You can get more tool for your money at the beginning and then start swapping it out for S/O..plus this will give you a decent set of home tools once you are done..... I've got tools from all of the big 3...but if I had it to do over, I would go S/O only....Every shop I have every been at, there has always been a S/O dealer, as far as Mac or Matco, that was 50/50....either S/O & Mac or S/O & Matco...rarely all 3 and when you break a tool & there is no dealer coming in, you get stuck buying it again..... Harbour Freight is good for hammers & pry bars
