Having some trouble following this but it sounds like you are dealing with the initial start up of a rebuilt, custom engine. Check for the basics like vacuum leaks, and timing, if you can. Good luck,

TOM; THIS IS WHAT I HAVE GOT, I BOUGHT THIS 1983 CHEVY 4X4 1/2 TON TRUCK A YEAR AGO, IT HAD BEEN SITTING IN A FIELD FOR ABOUT 5 YEARS WITH MOTOR BLOWED UP. SINCE THEN I HAVE REMOVED ALL THE RUST AND HAVE FIRST COAT OF PAINT ON IT NOW COMES THE MOTOR. I BUILT A 383 SBC IT HAS A 480 LIFT WITH 235 DURATION CAM WITH CORVETTE 202 VALVE HEADS WITH ELDERBROCK INTAKE TOPPED OFF WITH ELDERBROCK 600cfm CARB. I HAVE PUT A NEW CONTROL MODULE IN DIST. NEW WIRES,PLUGS. 50,00 VOLT COIL AND IT WILL RUN AS LONG AS I IDLE IT AT 1500 OR ABOVE BUT ANY LOWER THAN THAT IT WILL DIE, THEN I HAVE A HARD TIME RE-STARTING IT. I HAVE BEEN CHEVY PERSON ALL MY LIFE AND I AM 46 NOW, BUT I HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM LIKE THIS BEFORE. THIS IS MY BABY. IT WILL BE SHARP WHEN I AM DONE PAINTING IT WITH CLEAR PEARL GREEN SITH ALL THE DECAL I HAVE GOT FOR IT. THANKS EARL GMC73TRUCK@AOL.COM
