Off the wall, we have a Ford part that local dealers say is not in their computer. Part # is on it. Ignition part for 96 Contour 2.0 supposed to tell the coils when to fire. Not a cam OR crank sensor. Just a 1"X1" square with a pigtail & a metal mounting bracket for ground. Part # 96BB-18801-AA bottom line - 157 95 Any help guys? What's it do, it mounts to the coil bracket mount.

Sounds like a noise filter..... I've seen a few on the coil packs. It mounts off one of the studs. It has no computer control functions if it's the one I'm thinking it is........

T, does not look like those but close. Probly right about this being a noise supressor. Man thinks this will get his Contour running right. I don't. I have loaded picassa & have taken pics but still struggling to get them published to this site. Bear with me.

The 1" box relays are available generic for Fords. ONEs are specific by shrowded only - wiring can be the issue too. Many are same part # so check. Take A/C relay out for swap other items for a check. Replace as needed, T

Damn....maybe you could post a smaller picture of it...........lmao...... Hard to see but it sure looks like a noise suppressor...... I suppose if it shorted out it could case a problem.....easy nuff to find out tho..... just disconnect it..... Other than that it's not going to be the problem that you are looking for....

Best I could do with what I have to work with (me). First tries the pic was too large so I went as small as I could thinking you could work with it when you viewed it. That is a nickle with it.

Well, thanks for askin! Yes I did! Could drive a truck over it now. Had to re-do all the floor joists and block them up, replace some of the 2X6's on the perimeter and treat for bugs while it was apart (termites). This is one of the low ceiling houses built in the 60's, so now we have to raise the ceiling in the cathedrial style just so we can use a fan and have people over that are taller than 5'9"!
