Here’s what my "Dream car” is; I had one but being young and stupid, I got mad at it and sold it on a whim. Been looking for another one for quite awhile; I can find them easy enough, just can’t afford the ones I’d like.
There use to be a lot of these gas stations around here (South Western Ontario) and the northern States. I guess they were bought out by Shell in the early mid 60’s.
Remember when gas stations use to give out road maps, so they could get there advertizing out to the public?
Now they sell them for $5 or $10 if they have any at all.

Cool stuff Dan. This is the famous Citgo sign made famous as you can see it from all over Beantown and especially because it's seen from Fenway Park. They all but had to keep the thing as over the decades folks used that for directions as a landmark!
I don't recall the "White Rose" gas specifically. Travelled quite a bit in Canada in the 60s too. More in PQ/Quebec City - Montreal - - EXPO 1967! no less! If memory serves me went there in the family 1967 Country Squire Wgn with 16' Gaspar 80hp Johnson OB runabout in tow. Talk about a "Chevy Chase" duplicate of "Vacation!" Everything but a Grandma strapped to the roof!
Imperial gallons! What the heck? 40cents! Oh - that's five quarts so relax! It's surely archived but I think we got like $1.03 CN for a US$ back then.

Ah...The Big Fin cars Tommy...
Remember playing street hockey back in the day....man did those hurt when you slammed into 'em...
and those tail lights...broke a few of those....Those old Caddies were sure ahead of their time..and friggin tanks too...
Sweet car Dan.....worked on a few of those in my day....looks like a 68/69?
Remember those old grannies that use to come in to the shop with caprices with stock 427's under the hood..
It was like, "Sure ,I'll work on that...stay overtime too....just as long as I get to test drive it..."
Esso around here was Enco..."Happy Motoring"...they were a division of Standard Oil....
Remember Standard Oil has divisions in ,Indiana,New Jersey,Ohio,can't remember all of 'em...
MAN..you really started me thinking about those days....we use to take all those credit cards associated with Standard..
I use to work part time for an Enco station .......Job description, ..pump gas,work lube rack and all that implies....oil changes,tires,minor repairs,etc...scrub floors nightly,wash building windows daily..etc..service truck backup..never could be caught sitting/idle...Pay...1.00 per hour plus commission on oil that sold at the pumps...it was like a penny or 2 cents a quart...and a nickel for every gallon of antifreeze sold....BIG Spenders..didn't add up to much...
Citgo I believe used to be Cities Service
Remember Gulf Oil...used to give away the magnetic horseshoes for the bumper..
Texaco..."You can trust you car to the man who wears the star"...
I'll be back with more I'm sure...takes a while for "this"old brain to shift into gear.....

Just Googled the web to bits looking for the pics of the Chevy on top of a mesa (I think the idea was to leave it till the next model year) in the South West somewhere and they stopped that TV add campaign when somebody climbed up the shear cliff edge and stole the hubcaps just to be funny - true story!
Dan - what year is that car? I'll guess '68?
Funny - of the bazillion cars I've owned none were real sports cars! From the get go I was fascinated with the luxo boats and got real tangled up in the 66 T-Birds. Not 65, not 67 - just 66. Had a triple black Laudau that would blow the doors off of almost anything. Don't tell Mom but I drove that sucker from Quebec City to Montreal (100 miles) in less than an hour - pics to show the burried speedo if I can ever get a good pic of a pic to post that.
Fun times and lived to tell.......

It was a 69 Malibu, metallic blue; my older brother bought it brand new in Simcoe Ont. When my brother decided that a pony car and three kids didn’t mix anymore, I bought it from him.
In 68 when he went to buy it; it was still in the time where you ordered your car the way you wanted it. He placed his order with a 350cu”, 300 horse small block, Muncie 4 gear & a 12 bolt, 4:11 posi. Oh yea; because our dad was cosigning the bank loan; he ordered the car with a front bench seat; our dad thought anything with buckets and a console was a race car and didn’t want us to have anything to do with those “speedy cars”. Love my dad but he didn’t/doesn’t know squat about cars. LOL

I thought people who drove those also wore big fancy hats with feathers sticking out and had a nightshift of people working for/under them? LOL
Or does the truth now come out that automotive is your second career choice. LOL
Sorry Tom I couldn’t help myself; I had an old Chrysler Imperial the same color and man did I catch a lot of teasing over it.

Oh-oh! I've been exposed! Lincoln did have some funky colors back then. That blue was dignified with the name "Wedgewood" by Lincoln. Mine had the sunroof which was HUGE. You really could stand up thru it no problem and we sent Momma on a balloon ride back when and filmed that as the chase car with the photog guy standing thru the roof. Cough-Cough, there was room for the "feathered" hat and the real biz  ..
MPG fun: That one was a '79 with the 400M 2V which could do 18 max - best conditions. A '77 w 460 4V never saw over 11 even at steady 55 on longer trips. Funny that one was a funky Orange/copper glow kind of like your Pumpkin (inside comment folks) and had the first rear disc brakes and last as they stunk. A '69 460 4V (Pre-serious smog controls) had double the power and did well on hwy for the weight of them.
Trivia: First named body Town Cars wasn't till model year 1980! Those were "Continenetals" before that and TC was a trim package only!
