Need knowlegable Mechanic with PT Cruiser experience Sign In

03 pt cruiser ( non turbo ) about 168K. cleaned throttle body ( it was black ) may have over sprayed cleaner... now, car wont start. at first it would try to and kick out white-ish smoke. now, Battery is drained and wont crank. Just clicks when what power remains drains. sounds like " clicking " when the key is turned over. HELP! please. will give land line for direct comm if desired.

First thing that you need to do is to recharge the battery and make sure that it is good. Next, you'll probably have to remove the spark plugs to see if they are fouled out. If the wiring and plugs are old or worn, probably a good idea to replace them anyway since you'll have to take the upper intake off to get to them. You may have filled the lower half of the intake with what ever you were using to clean the throttle body. Unplug the injectors' connectors and the coil electrical connector. Have someone crank the engine and purge the cylinders out. You spray too much in there and it could have hydrolocked.

Make sure that you cover the lower intake ports if you go take the upper off. You don't want anything falling down in there. Take the rags or whatever you are using to cover the holes off if you go to crank the engine to purge the cylinders just in case it decides to suck a rag in.

how would one go about cleaning or removing the remaining fluid in lower half? im working on limited tools. As well as no means to pay for a tow. Understand my situation? It was running before it was done, just not now. would Jump Starting suffice? or actual recharging?

please don't put your contact number in your thread unless you want a bunch of wackos calling you in the middle of the night

Reread my reply because I was in the process of editing.

You don't want to crank on the engine anymore till your sure you don't have cylinders full of cleaner. The cleaner can actually cause a piston to hydrolock in a cylinder because a liquid isn't compressible. You'll either end up with a bent rod or a broken starter. You really need to pull the plugs and crank the engine over to purge the cylinders out, so your positive you don't do any mechanical damage.
