electronic distributor for old tractor

I have an old Cockshutt tractor with 6 volt coil and old point style distributor. Can I change the electronics in the distributor to a new style electronic sytem instead of the old points? I already changed the coil to 12 volts no resistor required.

Coils on old 6V systems were the same as 12V coils just for 12V systems the voltage was reduced by ballast resistor to save points from metal transfer at the higher volts when running but not for start up/cranking mode.
If your intent is to make the entire machine 12V you have to consider several things. Why mess with all this as they worked fine with points without re-engineering the thing?
If this is 6V positive ground (many were) you have lots more to think about. Own a 6V pos ground tractor. Hard part is finding 6 volt light bulbs but you can,

I have so little electronics on the tractor that 6 volt and 12 volt are irrelevant. The issue is, that the old distributor is badly worn, and cannot sustain proper point gap. I cannot find a replacement for the 60 yuear old tractor. So, can I replace the insides of the existing one?

If distributor shaft bushings are worn that could be fixable. If cam for points is like sandpaper it would constantly be reducing point gap. No matter what approach you take the distributor is going to have to turn properly.
What year and exact thing is this? My own in a 1948, dist is marginal and doesn't care too much. Matchbook close is enough for years of low use. That one just has two front headlights and one for rear. The pos ground worries my about starter drive more than anything else. Left it alone as designed since 1969 and still have it! It's a John Deere Model M thought to be used on property that now would be the parking areas around the New England Patriots football complex which was all farmland back when.
Haven't messed with it for a few years now but stuff was always available to keep it OE...........
Wish it looked that good. Only used by me to plow snow and pull vehicles out of a ditch for decades!

Thanks Tom. It is a 1947 Cockshutt Model 30. Headlights and tail light are long gone so I will use aftermarket stuff. I just want to get this old girl running better and then hit her with a coat of paint.

OK - Just Google Imaged the thing...........
I would keep it original if it take a used distributor or whatever to be worked on or work on the one you have. Quick look that stuff was available but didn't dig.
Lighting could be if you want it at all just be "tractor" lights from about anyplace and are (at least my own) sealed beams. A 12v beam would be dim and yellowish on 6V set up.
Most things in that category used as much direct info like my oil pressure isn't electric at all, choice of "HI" or "LO" charge is manual. Not much else - even a fuel gauge is a stick.
Save the headaches. If you search around the entire web you may find engine is mostly something used in a car or truck by a major auto maker too just some alterations for the use it would get,
