total electric connection failure

I have a 1994 Toyota Camry 6 cyl. with 235k on it. Everything was working fine until one morning, I started the car and it crank one turn and went dead. Check the battery, it was good at 12.5 volts and clean the terminals. Jump started it but did not start the car. Seems that the car is not getting enough electrical power cause even the power window, horn, hazard lights are not working. When I turn the ignition, no sound at all. Any advice is appreciated. By the way, I had it smog test the day before.

Check the battery cables and connections at both ends. They do corrode and need to be clean, shiny and tight. Otherwise its like pinching off a garden hose. You have plenty in the hose but none of it getting to the sprinkler to do what you want it to do.

I have done that. Checked the battery voltage at the clamp bolts and read 12.5V. Thanks for comment.

Did you check the voltage at the starter? Testing at the battery means about nothing and you haven't verified a good connection if you never unbolted anything. Could do a voltage drop test on power and ground sides too so you can isolate the issue.

Just check the voltage using the positive wire terminal and engine block, the reading still 12.5V. Positive wire terminal with the starter, 12.5V. Unbolted and clean the battery terminals yesterday. Thanks.

I believe the power supply for everything but the starter will go from the battery to the engine compartment fuse box. There is a main fuse there along with sume medium size maxi fuses for other circuit groups. Check them all.

Clip the red lead of your multimeter to the positive battery end and the other lead to the power end at the starter. Have someone crank the engine and see what the meter is reading while you do it. This is called a voltage drop test, where you see how much voltage didn't make it through. It only gives valid results when you are using or attempting to use the component in question. Something might pass a continuity test but fail to deliver under load and thats what this test will show you.

Turn out it is a bad battery. Even I am getting a 12.5v, my current was low, that it was not having a good charge.
