We are looking at a 2005 GMC Canyon Club Cab. It has 104,000 miles on it and we can get it for $8836 including tax, title, tags and fees. It has a clear Carfax report and is in what seems to be VERY good condition to the "untrained" eye. However, we are feeling a little concern about this because it's far below the book value and this will deplete our savings. We don't want to be taken advantage of. Do you think this may be one of those "too good to be true" deals?

I'll be frank in saying that sounds like way too much $$ for the miles on a gas hog right about now. Expect fuel to be lots more than it is now withing a year ans stay high and the value of this type vehicle will plummit even more.
Carfax could miss issues in it's history. If you really like this one or any used vehicle get it totally checked out independantly. Look at the papers for prior ownership on vehicles this new too. Fleet use and some things will lower valuations,
