I have a 1965 Corvette that I purchased in 1975. i am trying to find the vehicle history prior to 1975. Car Max and other companies only go back to 1981. Can anyone give me an idea on where to look?

If you are not I think you'd do well to get into a Vette club. So much happens to these cars it's unreal. Do you even trust the VIN number on the car? That would tell you what engine and trans is supposed to be in it, and a tag under the hood on firewall should indicate the color when new.
These cars get altered on purpose and lots were stolen or totalled but put back in service again. My state finally pulls VIN# as invalid on a car that is totalled and issues a new one if fixed up which will forever be branded as a "salvage" car. That won't help you now.
It's been a while now but you could try finding the owners along the way and ask if they know of anything. If you are looking for maintenance history I think you'll be out of luck by now.
