1998 Chev S-10 Transmission Sign In

CrazyI have a 1998 Chev S-10, V6, 4.3L 2x4 110K. It started very quickly. While driving on express way, other cars started passing me by. I looked down at the gauges and saw that the RPM's where in redline but truck is not going very fast. I thought it had to be something in the transmission. So after getting truck home a went thru the usual process to trying to figure out what wrong. Now I have another car so sometimes I let the truck sit for a while and drive the car. Now in light of the fact I hadn't noticed any signs of any problems before this happened (leaking fluid, slippage in shifting, nothing). My question is it possible that I don't need a new transmission?? If not what could possibly be the problem. I like my truck very much and would like to be able to get back to driving it. Somebody HELP!!!!!!!

Re: 1998 Chev S-10 Transmission Sign In

Have you checked the transmission’s fluid level? If so was the fluid level full, a clean pinkish colour or was/is it a dark colour and have a burnt smell?
You probably haven’t had a reply to you question because it is very vague with so many possibilities as to what your trucks problem really is?
By your description it does sound like a transmission issue and if the fluid is full (clean or dirty) it usually means going inside to find the root problem.
