1998 Chevy truck brake question

I have a 98 Silverado with the leading /trailing type drum brakes
I replaced both the rear master cylinders, but am stuck on how the brake adjusters go on.
The part underneath this that contains the star wheel... Is that "lever" suppossed to face to the front or the rear? If I put it to the front, then the lever for the brake adjuster rests on it sort of like a support but then it never comes in contact with the star wheel. I put it to the back, but now it seems the adjuster is real easy to flop away from the star wheel. If I push it onto one of the cogs it seems to hold OK, but it just dont look right. I have never messed with this type, usually the self-adjusters are at the bottom of the shoes, and on this one they are on the top. My Haynes manual just does not have any decent detail on this, please help.

If memory serves, the left adjuster lever goes on the front shoe, the right to the rear. Attaching the spring holds the lever to the star wheel to effect advancement when brakes are applied. Understand the mechanism, think it through, and you should be ok.

I figured it out. I was putting the spring on wrong that holds the adjuster in place. I needed to hook it on the INSIDE of the lever and not thru the outside as I had been. Once I reversed it, it held itself fine against the star wheel....

To add- As they break in (No Pun) find a safe place to do hard back up stops as they should self adjust. If they are working (adjusters) you'll notice a better brake feel after doing that
PS: Wear a face mask while doing this or folks may think your crazy and recogize you!!
