hi all, i have a 79 f350 it has a flat bed\stake body on it it"s not original to the truck it has it"s own frame that sits on the truck frame, i am converting it to a dump body... the hinges are done all i need is a lift cylinder, i want to put one of those electric jobs on it im sure you have all seen them, found what i need at northern tool just need to figure how to hook it up i think i can measure from the hinge to the front (cab end of bed) and find the center, mount the cylinder to the bed their and mount it where it sits on the truck frame toward the cab of the truck, im looking at a cylinder with a 30 in stroke it says 40 in closed so with a 30 in. stroke that gives a 70 inch lift witch should be sufficient i still have a lot of measurement to do. i think i will cut a piece of pipe at 40 than put it on center and mark it where it would hit the frame then raise the bed and measure from center on bed to mark on truck frame think that will work feel free to point out anything wrong with this plan or anything im doing wrong or suggestions or even just, sounds like it would work. where i live their is no inspection or anything, its just an old farm truck. was also thinking of finding a cylinder in a junkyard probably get a rebuild kit for 50 bucks maybe, just another thought, thanks http://www.northerntool.com/images/product/images/909430_lg.gif http://www.northerntool.com/images/product/images/10721_lg.gif
