2001 Dodge Ram wont start after hot.
I drive the truck about 2 miles daily and have no problems, but if I drive it for 25 miles and shut it off, it will not start back up until it sits for about three to four hours. I replaced the ignition coil and this did not help. The starter turns over just fine and you can crank on it tell the battery is dead and it will not start while it is hot. Any ideas what I need to check next.

Read this thread: http://autoforums.carjunky.com/...LL_NOT_START_P75655/ It probably won't be a compression issue, so you can skip that step. Make sure you check those things when the engine doesn't want to start. Post your results. The results of those tests will give you a direction to troubleshoot your problem. Also, have the vehicle scanned for trouble codes. Write down the numbers and post them in here. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

The code that is showed on the Dodge Ram is P0340, this code is there all the time even when it starts, I have not found the Crankshaft Sensor location yet. There was no other code when it would not start last night. Started raining had to stop looking.

That code is not fore a Crankshaft sensor. It's for a Camshaft sensor. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

? What engine is in this? Confused info (common where I find it) for location or whether is has one or not. If so would be in distributor on the 5.2. Code doesn't mean that's the problem just the circuit to investigate. Did you follow the "All Crank No Start" tests to see what is dropping out at least? T

This is a 5.9 engine and what we found was that the crankshaft sensor had went out and the camshaft sensor would fail when it got hot. We replaced both and now it is starting just fine. Thanks for the info.
