2002 Tahoe 5.3 Fuel Pump

Help,
I have a 2002 Tahoe 5.3 non flex fuel and the pump was letting air in at 1/4 tank levels. So I purchased one at auto store and set out to do the change.
Question is when I got the existing one out and opened the new box. There's a issue at the fuel line connections!
Existing has two metal connections
New pump has two plastic (with a third stubin the middle).
When I called the store they said I have the wrong pump, the online info says it will fit all!
I have no way to get to the store to do the exchange with tank out on the ground. Please tell me if I the new will work and what do I do with the center stub if it will work.

There are 2 different pumps. One is for "robust fuel system" and one without. If you have the wrong pump, it has to be exchsnged.
