2008 gmc sierra 1500 crankshaft position sensor help Sign In

2008 gmc sierra 15005.3 v8 4x4 slt

I recently purchased a replacement crank sensor and upon installing realized it would not work because the tab I side the sensor is on the wrong side. Upon searching online stores including rockauto and the big parts stores like autozone and oreillys, I noticed all the parts for my exact vehicle are like this. Am I goin g to have to replace the wiring connector to fit these new parts?

I don't see the difference you are trying to point out.

If the original wiring harness does not match the sensor you bought then it's pretty simple, you have the wrong sensor.

With all these Chinese made parts these things get boxed wrong quite often, especially if they appear alike.

Another thing.... You can't just replace this sensor. It requires a relearn process using a professional scan tool.

So you are saying that the index notch is on the left side, between pins 1 & 2? While the old sensor the notch is on the right side, between pins 2 & 3?

Post your VIN #

Edit....Strange..... I've looked at a few different years, engine sizes and even Chevy and the tabs are all on the left. Even the 2560288 # comes up left????

Looking at the applications in Rockauto they make one reference to a locating tab on the upper left so there must be some confusion with these parts.

Yes that's correct. It makes me wonder if a previous owner did some work and replaced the wiring and connector but I can't understand why theg would. Vin is 2GTEK13T661224608

If there was a repair made it would be obvious that the harness was spliced and the wires would be white.

I think it's more like they has a production change mid year and there are 2 different sensors available.

It could also have something to do with the fact that this truck is a 2006, not a 2008 model year.
