2009 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT V8 5.3 Vortec 75,000 miles I don't drive this much and the battery went bad over the winter. I replaced the battery and the fuel pump runs constantly when the truck is not on. Could the fuel flow control module under the spare tire cause this?

Strong guess: Relay. Low volts if empowered can weld/stick them inside. Try taking it out and whack on it with the plastic end of a screwdriver and put it back in or if same as an A/C relay use the A/C relay for a test. If not that easy then on to more testing, T

You aren't going to be able to find that out without a high end scan tool. That's a Pulse Width Modulated system and you need a scan tool to even read the fuel pressure. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

This is happening to "things" all over the place right about now, more phone calls than web sites. Dang relays and connections anywhere hate the extremes of wet, hot, cold and anything electrical hates a low voltage vehicles or not. That's why I said strong chance of this being the flucking relay. If nothing else it should shut the pump off to pull the thing out and NOT kill your battery AGAIN. This one and somehow they aren't cheap......... T

This system doesn't even have a relay.

I totally apologize if it doesn't but shows one. Close to $30 bucks @ cost was showing which is a rip IMO for the type if that. Since forever when wrong info goes to print it get stuck forever to correct or never does? I'll look in another whole area on this just because it's bugging me. About now is anyone sure this thing that runs when off is even a fuel pump at all or some other noise? Tom (edit note) Two types of relays found already for this look nothing alike but called relays. One female with 5 prongs! Others 4 prongs. Now what is anyone supposed to do with that info? Look up Echlin Part # AR153 - fits other items also and looks all different that some others show. Lost and may need VIN to target this?????

There is no confusion here. There is no relay. As I stated days ago, it is a pulse modulated, variable pressure system operated by a module. This relay stuff is just confusing the OP.

1. It has an in tank electric fuel pump either Delphi or Bosch listed claiming exact OE parts. 2. It is SAID to stay ON or running? 3. If so it barely matters how it gets power it shouldn't for any reason when totally shut down. All show a relay maybe so or not but if a motor is getting power when shut off then what? All searches show a relay to empower whatever other gets involved to power the fuel pump which was replaced or said it was up top along with a battery. That's what OP said happened and then this noise that doesn't quit when off. What else does OP or we know thru OP what is really going on at this time? T
