2011, Toyota Tundra, 5.5L Dies at 2000 RPM Sign In

Year of vehicle = 2011
Make of vehicle = Toyota
Model of vehicle = Tundra
Engine size = 5.7L
Mileage = 208,529
Synopsis: The following problem has occurred three times in a matter of two months. My Tundra dies and goes to safe mode with all lights flashing when over 2000 RPMs.

What I have done:

1. First time this happened I took it to Firestone and got the following diagnosis. Vehicle came in no start found blown fuse for injectors and ignition coils. A test drive revealed no other problems.
2. Second time this happened I took it again to Firestone and got a similar diagnosis.
3. Third time this happened I was able to make it home but the Truck wont start. End up replacing the blown fuse again but I'm afraid to drive it in the present condition.
4. I could not find any damaged wires or pack rat issues.

Any advise on getting my truck up and running is greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure I understand here. If you truly blew the injector fuse, you would be dead in the water, not just running bad.

Has anyone scanned the computer for codes?

Blown fuses are caused by overloaded circuits so if a particular fuse blows more than once, then you have a short in that circuit somewhere that has to be located. That can be difficult sometimes, especially if the problem is intermittent.

Hammer time,

Firestone stated they scanned for code. They informed me that their reading were all over. The write up in my post was exactly what they wrote.

how should i start looking for the short?

I don't know what that is supposed to mean. Either there are stored codes or there is not.

The first thing is to read and record any stored codes. Autozone will read them for free if you don't live in CA.

If you need to find the cause of a fuse blowing, then you are going to need a local, competent tech to track that down. You won't find anybody like that at Firestone.
