4x4 will not engage	Sign In

I have a 2002 Ford F250 with the V10 engine was just replaced by Ford dealer so truck has 109,000 but motor has 2500 anyways the trucks 4x4 switch worked fine last yr but when I switched to 4x4 it would not engage after playing with it a while it will go into 4x4 but only after switch back and forth from 2 wheel to low 4x4 wnd then high any ideas

Shoot - hard to say and not real good with Ford 4X4. If selection lights then check underside that connection to actuator are good then let's go from there,

Light comes on sometimes not every time it is weird how it just started doing this all last winter shifted fine now this yr you have to go back and forth from 2 wheel tolow 4x4 to get it to engage and like I said sometimes lightsup sometimes it takes a while for light to appear

I may have messed you up with what direction to go with this. Out of hundreds of my own vehicles only 2 were 4X4 and dammit the hydraulic actuator to engage it was painfully slow so replaced that. Now slow but still not amusing as I plow snow with the damn thing.

If I messed you up start a new thread - same subject but put in subject line "2002 Ford F250" with a 4X4 issue will help the volunteer help here get you the best direction to chase down. I should have steered clear of this thread - sorry if I messed you up and YES help is here,
