Mad my truck is a 94 GMC sierra ext. Cab 4x4 350. I was driving at 45 MPH and the engine died as if I had cut off the ignition. I checked the basic three air, fuel and spark.I'm lacking spark. I checked the throttle body & injectors & added a small dash of fuel. There was no attempt to start when I turned it over.the ignition system has an external induction coil with a power supply coming from the wireing harness & two wires going to the base of the distributor & the coil wire to the distributor cap. The distributior has a group of wires coming in from the harness & two wires out to the coil. The coil has power but the engine wont try to start when turned over....ithasremote lock

Thank you for your reply. I have read most of the post and see that you are a very knowledgable technition.I won't be arguing with you, but following your advice. I got a good laugh at the tbi vortex conversation.
I used a noid light and both tbi injectors have a pulse. I can see the spray with my eye as well. I removed the coil wire from the coil side and get no fire from the coil. Im pretty sure of it being the ignition system but I'm unfamiliar with this ignition design. Anything you can tell me to try I will do to the letter.thank you for your help. I forgot to mention in my post it is a high millage tricycle 250,000 . But it was a strong running truck that has had no problems in the last three years.that's why I bought it.

I also attempted to scan for codes but the only scanner available was not compatible.

OK good. We just proved that the ECM is receiving a reference signal so the crank sensor is good and the problem is isolated to ignition. You probably will have it but test for power arriving at the + side of the coil with the key on at the pink wire. If you verify power, my best guess would be a bad ignition module inside the distributor.

That's good news. I have tested it and it does have power. I will replace the ignition module and see if that fixes the problem. Againe thanks for sharing your knowledge.
This truck has horrible paint & is riddled with bullet holes, but it's still strong and tight with a lot of character. Worth every penny of the two grand I paid for it. It has a good home with me.

That's great, You see, that is how it's supposed to work when people just listen and follow instructions. Right to the problem with minimal back and forth. Glad it worked out for you.
