96 GMC Sierra hesatation when throttle is pressed Sign In

i am working on a 1996 GMC sierra it has a 5.7. i've replaced the fuel pump it worked fine after that when my mother in law brought it back from a long trip it would die out if you hit the throttle so i replaced fuel filter. that didn't fix the problem so i replaced the fuel pressure regulator now it will hessatate and back fire and almost die out when you hit the throttle ive asked numerous friends and we are all puzzled. It has 50 to 55 psi fuel pressure when running and when its not running it has 50 to 55 psi fuel pressure until the pump shuts off then it drops down to 10 to 15 psi. Any help you could give me would be much appreciated

There is your problem. Your fuel pressure is too low. This engine requires a minimum of 55 PSI to run. The spec is 56 to 62PSI. I suspect that you probably purchased a cheap discount fuel pump and it has failed already.

Make sure you verify power and ground at the pump before condemning it.
