'97 Chevy K1500 pickup (4x4) 305 cu. in. 210K Hello, I am not able to engage the 4Hi on my truck. I press the button, and the light just blinks. I can hear the solenoid actuating, but nothing more happens. The problem started ~ 9 months ago after replacing the transmission extension housing. I've gone back under the truck several more times to re-examine all of the connectors to insure I didn't have any not plugged in, or not completely plugged in. I put my multi meter onto the two wire terminals in the solenoid connector (wire harness side), and read about 12V (11.something) when the 4x4 button had been engaged. My Haynes manual doesn't cover the 4wheel drive at all, so I'm not sure what direction to continue. Any advise would be appreciated. Thank you, Nick

Be sure the thermal actuator on the front axle is working . they are known to fail. they make an retro kit to electric actuator that solves the prob. LIFE'S SHORT GO FISH
