97 Suburban fuel issue
Hello all, I have a 1997 Chevrolet Suburban with the 5.7 Vortec. It is a 2wd truck with 80,000 miles. Yesterday, the engine died while driving and I had to get it towed home because it wouldn't start. I thought it was the fuel pump because of the way it shut down and wouldn't restart. Once at home, I could hear the pump come on in the tank when I turned the ignition. I confirmed that fuel is getting to the intake by checking the Schrader valve in the fuel line. I then shot some starting fluid in the throttle body and the truck cranked and ran smoothly until it was all burned off. I am a "shade-tree hobbyist" at best when it comes to auto repair, and the addition of EFI only adds to my confusion here. Is this a simple fix? What should my next step be?

Thanks, Hammer Time. What is the required fuel pressure? I have been unable to find it online. I'm gonna pick up a gauge on the way home and check it.

There's enough pressure there for a lawn mower. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
