Hey I have a 98 GMC Yukon, V8 that has 176000 miles on it. I need to change the fuel pump and I am not sure about the best way to do it. I have done a lot of my own repairs in the past, but this one is new and I know that I am supposed to drop the gas tank. anyone willing to give me instructions? ThanksUnsure

Mrs. Rat; This will be a helluva job to do in your driveway. After disconnecting the battery, the fuel inlet hose to the tank, fuel lines going to the tank, and having something to support the tank (it's gonna be HEAVY), you'll see two straps that hold the tank to the body of the vehicle. Carefully lower the tank to the ground. You'll see the the fuel pump module unit in the tank which, in some cases, requires a special tool to remove. Remove the unit and replace it. Make certain that the rubber "O" ring is in place which seals the unit to the tank. Then, reinstall. Be sure to replace the fuel filter. A restricted filter can damage a pump and void the warranty. Seriously, this is not a job for a novice. The labor is around two hours. Might be well worth the investment. Just a thought.

Agree with Loren. Not a easy on especially in the drive way. Also attaching a new pigtail plug to the truck will likey be required. These models are tough on the pluges. (melting them) You will have to be sure to get the wire right or you will be puling the tank to redo it. Good Luck
