One is with a scanner that has the capability to view engine data stream information and graphing. You watch the front and rear O2 sensor signals with the engine at operating temperature and engine speed around 2500 rpm. If the signals look the same, cat isn't doing it's job. The other way to test a cat is with a exhaust gas analyzer. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved. You can also take the pipe off and visually inspect for damage to the cat..
