Clutch "popped" Sign In

I have a 1982 Chevy S10 pickup 4 cyl with about 180,000 miles. Leaving today, I pushed the clutch in and there was a loud pop sound and the pedal stayed on the floor. At first, I thought it was the cable but if its pulled or pushed from the engine side, it moves the pedal. When you pull the pedal back up, it just falls back down about an inch from the floor. Any ideas of what to look for to figure out what's wrong with it?

Re: Clutch "popped" Sign In

I probably would've bet money that it had a hydraulic clutch, but if you are pulling on the cable, I would have lost my bet. Hmmmm. Disconnect the cable at the throwout fork and make sure that the cable is intact. Examine both ends of the cable to make sure the 'ends' are there. If no problem with the cable or the pedal assy where the cable attaches, the problem is going to be in the clutch area. Possibly throw-out fork broke or somehow came off of the pivot?
