98 K1500 chevy P/U 190000 5.7lt The problem started on saturday 6/27 attemped to start truck ans would start and stall, truck ran when I poured gas in the TBI, so i figured it was a fuel filter due to the fact that I could hear the pump running. I changed the filter and everthing ran smooth till today 6/30. The same thing accured truck would not run, starts but will not stay running, so its not the fuel pump or filter. ant suggestions.

You have a bad fuel pump. It's very common on those vehicles and the engine uses a high pressure system and has no tolerance for any pressure loss at all. Done fuel pump pressure check when truck would not start, and when it woulf run and pressure ran 61psi to 63psi all well within specs. its not the fuel pump.

Well, you stated the truck started when you put fuel in the intake. That means it's not getting fuel for some reason. If what you say is true about the fuel pressure, that only leaves the injector pulse and since you had spark, it doesn't leave many options. The number one cause of those symptoms is a bad fuel pump, very common. Other than a fuel pump, your looking at either power supply to the injectors or a computer failure. Check for power coming to the injectors when the failure is present. If you have power then check for injector pulse. Don't forget fuel volume! You can have all the pressure in the world, not enough volume!!! I am a ASE Certified GM Tech.
