I have a 1988 GMC C-1500 2wd with a 4.3L TBI. I had a re-manufactured engine installed about 4 years ago from Advance Automotive Ind. It now has approx. 35,000 miles on it. Fuel pressure is steady at 12psi. The problem started when used to drive it all the time it seamed as though it was loosing power. Now that it has sat for a year it idles fine and runs normally until you put it in drive the truck does not go more than 10 mph and it sound like its sucking in allot of air. A very loud sucking sound. All vacuum lines seem to be fine. Where should I go from here?

It sounds like you may have a plugged up Catalytic Converter. The easiest way to determine that is to just disconnect it from the manifold and run it temporarily and see if the power comes back.

I replaced that aprox 2 years ago so I never though but sure enough when I took it off it was a mess and the power is back. Thank you very much.
