Should I rebuild Chevy 350 Silverado?

I have a '94 Silverado, 350, uses qt. oil every 3K miles, 156K miles, has had great maint. Runs fine, in the last year has had new starter and replaced leaking intake manifold. I am retired, fixed income, can afford to spend the 4K to get new longblock, at least now.
My great mechanic says the oil pressure at cruising speed is 35, at idle 10.
How long can I expect the engine to last, at least generally? I'm thinking of having the new longblock installed now, cause who knows what the future will bring. This will be my last vehicle, and I'd like it to last.

I would try putting new pump in first might just be a pump on the way out. They are fairly cheap to replace.

I don't know that a new oil pump is going to do anything for your oil consumption. Are you getting any smoking? If so, when?

No smoking, my mechanic says the main bearings are getting worn. He says the oil pump is fine. He's not pushing to replace the engine at all.

Wouldn't really consider 1qt every 3k miles alot for consumption. Run thicker oil like a 15w40 that will help your oil pressure.. Also if you going by GM dummy gauge I would put a actual mechanical gauge in the GM gauges arn't very accurate.

The oil pressure was measured by my mechanic with whatever gauges he used.

I have a 95 Suburban with the 350 motor. Has 250,000+ on it and was at about the same numbers for oil pressure and consumption. I run 15w40 diesel oil in it and my numbers are better. Not worried about rebuilding the motor. It'll run for quite some time longer.

Greetings, A new pump is an idea I'll go for. Make it a heavy duty one, more volume. I put one in an older chevy truck it made that motor so happy.
