Squealing front wheel Sign In

I have a 1997 Dodge Dakota and the front passenger wheel starts squealing at about 20 mph (whether the engine is running or not) and keeps squealing until I fall below 20 mph again. The mechanic could not figure it out. Bearings are good, hub is good, replaced a seal, and the sound persists. The brakes have been replaced since the squeal started and the rotors machined. The mechanic had my car up for several hours and could not find the problem. I know very little about cars but I was wondering if anyone has had the same problem and how they fixed it?

A Guess: Sometimes a dust shield can rub on the rotor and if so just bending it back would solve that. Just need to look to see if it's too close. It's a guess and know that wheels, rotors do flex a bit under certain loads so need some clearance,

Okay, I will take a look. I also just noticed that the sound gets worse when I turn left and slightly fades when I turn right

Now I'm thinking even more it's just a slightly bent dust shield. If a bearing which also usually is worse steering one way or the other the sound is usually more of a "growl" not usually a squeal but anything's possible.

If you do find the shield too close it may just bend back a tad with your hands. If prying is needed just watch what you pry against not to hurt anything. It's fairly common with the dust shield,
