I have a 1988 Ford Ranger with a 2.0 in it. I am trying to adjust the fuel/air mixture but I don't know which way the screw should be turned. Does anyone have the same problem?

Air fuel mixture isn't really adustable except for setting float level properly. Idle mixture is probably sealed tight (dunno for sure - other capped off the screws) with super tough tiny metal bottle caps kinda to prevent you from fooling with them OR they have a short range with limiters. If you rebuild this or if you find one or two (you didn't say what carb) then if you don't have a clue where to leave them you could bottom them out tight (gentle now) and back off 2.5 to 3 turns and leave it alone! You might even have to buy a special socket called "clutch" with is like a figure "8" but filled in headed screw. Remember the "idle mixture" screws if you can get to them at all are just for the mixure ratio at idle and part load/throttle and not part of the WOT or wide open throttle mixture at all. Here's a link about a mile long on how to mess with adjustments on either of the possible carbs, http://www.autozone.com/...eId=0900c15280078075 Have fun! It is nice to be able to clean in the holes with them removed but most have been made tamperproof even lots older than this, T
