i have a 1999 dodge durango with the 360 magnum automatic 4x4. now were having trouble with the ecm and i think the crank sensor any ways i am a carb man and what i want to do is put a edelbrock carb and airgap magnum manifold and change the distributor to the hei style which they do make and i rather replace the parts in the distributor that is a lot cheaper then the brain . now i know i would have to put a fuel reg, and wire the fuel tank to go on when the truck is started . i'm just trying to bypass the brian all together they are getting harder to find and i can't afford $400 every time it decides to go out when i did some research on line about the durango i'm not the only one having trouble with the brain so .we like the truck its in great shape and while i have money i would rather put a $1000 or more into it. that way i wont have keep wasting money to fix it and have break downs again and when it does break down it shuts down the motor no matter were you are it has shut off in the middle of traffic and thats not the easiest truck to push off the road and sometime there is no place to pull off. so let know what you think thank you dan

You can totally forget that. Not only will it not work but it would cost you more than repairing your original system, not to mention it's against federal law. Don't forget, that computer operates your transmission too. By the way, that computer probably costs less than a good carb, not even counting completely rewiring the entire truck and replacing the distributor just to get the engine to run. Oh, and that fuel system won't work with a carb either. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

You can totally forget that. And, you can totally forget about getting tags renewed when it comes time for emission testing. Loren SW Washington

DITTO ..... Even if you live in a state with no emmisions testing , it would become a money pit . If you want to go back to the GOOD OL DAYS ,(they had their problems too) find a vintage iron and restore it . LIFE'S SHORT GO FISH

Yea, there is no going back. The HammerTime has it right. Get some old Iron Pre-EPA and "rebuild and restore" if that is the way you want to go. The ECM stuff is so fully integrated into todays vehicles that they won't run without it.
