If you do some research, there have been others that have asked the same question in other forums. It seems the 3.0L's bellhousing bolt pattern is different than the 4.0L. You would have to swap the bellhousings. Even then the 4R44E won't last behind the 4.0L and there is a difference in PCM software, so you can't use the 4R44E with the 4.0L's PCM.
