Where exactly is the spare mounted on a chevy 3/4 ton truck with stock 17 inch wheels?

It should be underneath the bed, aft of the axle. There will be a crank handle, somewhere in the vehicle, that you use to lower the spare to the ground. (Manufacturers like to hide the crank handles and jacks). Loren SW Washington

Jack and crank will lower spare probably all that hidden behind seat in cab. Take a doctorate from MIT to put that all back in place - laugh. Take it down now and repaint wheel as it will probably look like sh*t. Not GM's brightest ideas with that. Own one myself same story but an older truck. If you have a rear bumper there will be a hole for the crank handle to go thru. Off topic: We the people bail out GM that can't make a spare tire reasonable to access! It rusts like nuts and may be no good depending on situation. It holds dirt, salt and sand in the wheel. I like being and buying American but this is not the brightest light in the trucks for this situation. They aren't alone - others are that way too, T

Was camping, and a good looking female Forest Ranger had a flat. Of course, I had to stop and help. Her jack (GM) was a piece of junk. After about ten minutes of looking, I found mine under the passenger seat. Go figure. But, at least Dodge gives you a good scissors jack. They just don't tell you where it's at. Loren SW Washington

The whole thing is an outrage IMO! I don't use any vehicle's jacks. I already have smaller version floor jacks, cross bar, blocks of wood to make up height in everythng I own. I carry a 12v compressor and some flats can be fixed on car till later. WallyWorld's plug kit for nail holes works pretty dang good! T

All that's nice, but doesn't take the place of helping a good looking gal with a problem. Loren SW Washington
