2004 ford ranger pickup 4.0 liter 4x4. it is time to replace the spark plugs and with all the new and different plugs on the market I don't know which to use. would of course like new plugs to improve performance and fuel economy.please let me know what your thoughts are on this subject.
lost in decision

Only use the OE plugs exactly in stuff this new. All the claims of the stuff you may see out there is just bull IMO. If something was better than it would have been used from new,

I second what Tom said.

Don't fall for all the snake oil hype. The best plug for your car is the one that the factory engineered the motor to run on. With a ranger, that would be Autolite or Motorcraft.
