Ken; There are a multi-tude of possiblities; Does it start right up again after stalling? Could be any one of many reasons. CTS, vacuum leak, IAC, module, ect. Loren SW Washington

The TPS will rarely cause a stall, but a hesitation. But, it's possible. The oil pressure reading is probalby correct. As engine rpm drops, the oil pressure will, too. Could be as simple as needing an injection cleaning. The IAC (idle air control) is an electrically operated solenoid that opens and closes to control idle speed. They get dirty/sticky over time. GM IACs rarely need to be replaced, just cleaned. Of course, there are a multitude of other possiblilities, but that is the most common. Loren SW Washington

Ken; Taking care of three small boys, by yourself, is a heck of lot more technical and important than what I do. My hat is off to you! As far as cleaning the IAC, it really isn't that difficult. Need to know which engine you have. Throttle body or multi-port fuel injection? Being a van, it isn't going to be very easy as you'll have to remove the dog-house if it's a TBI system, which I'm guessing. Let me know for sure. I'll try and pull up a pic to show you what we're talking about. On the other hand, if you can afford it, a fuel injection cleaning will help fuel economy and performance, while cleaning the IAC at the same time. Generally, around $100.00. (Ask for Motor Vac FI service). But, if you want to attempt the IAC, let me know. Loren SW Washington

I still haven't figured out how to post a pic, here. Hmmmmm. Attached is a blown up view of the TBI unit that, according to Mitchell, your van has, as opposed to MPI. If you notice at the bottom of the pic, you'll see the IAC. This unscrews (counter-clockwise) from the TBI. With the engine off, of course, disconnect the electrical connector from the IAC, remove it, and clean it with carb/choke spray. Also, clean the TBI port where you removed the IAC. Allow the spray to dry before putting everything back together. You can also clean the insides of the TBI while you are there. Depending on how much spray you use, it may be a bit slow in starting. Just crank it over until it starts. Don't give it any throttle. Hope this helps. If my 'book' is wrong, and it does have MPI, it will have an IAC, also...Do the same thing. If it's MPI, you may be able to access it through the hood, but if it's TBI, you'll have to remove the doghouse, air cleaner assy, ect. (Be sure that the air cleaner is installed prior to starting, in case of backfire) Loren SW Washington
