Hi

Hope somebody can help. I have a Daf LF55/220 which is an ex Royal Mail lorry, it was fitted with a cut off after 5 mins (to save fuel?)

I now use this lorry as a tanker and dont want the cut off. I have checked relays, cant find anything.

Is this sort of thing programmed into the ECU when buying ? if so can it be changed easily ?

Wow! Here, the USPS (United States Postal Service) uses their own special fleet of vehicles for rural delivery custom designed just for that. Not a postal employee and never was but TMK the vehicles MUST be locked, not running AND within sight of the driver at all times if not actually inside it as in something needing a signature or other reasons. I'm near sure they would not shut off by themselves but don't know for sure.

Your best bet is going to be contacting the builder directly to find out how to change that system without harm to the vehicle. It could be as basic as a sensor in the driver's seat that someone is there that cancels the auto shut down or resets. By common sense it is a total shut down except for power to any needed lighting and only a wild guess.

My best suggestion is do this right such that it doesn't impede any diagnosing problems later should something come up,

Pretty sure your talking about a diesel here. In the states we have more and more trucks with idle shutdown timers equipped. Its a parameter in the computer that a dealership can change for you. The fleet I maintain gets a lot of used trucks that have that and one trip to a dealership solves that.
