My truck has a problem with the idle after it warms up. '93 Chevy S-10, 2.8. I read in an earlier post to check the IAC. Cleaned, then replaced it. It's better but it still takes 15-30 seconds for it to idle down(if it does) when getting to a stop light or stuck in traffic. I have sprayed around the engine with carb cleaner to check for vacuum leaks but found nothing. My mileage has gone from around 17mpg to 10 and @ 4.50 a gallon, it's killing me. Other recent work done was replaced "O"ring on distributor and new valve cover gaskets. It runs well, passed emissions last week but still at a loss. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

It's not just the IAC that you needed to clean. It was the entire throttle body, especially both sides of the throttle plate.

Thank you. I didn't see that in what I read before. I will give that a try.

Remove the intake snorkel, have someone hold the throttle wide open for you and scrub the back side of the throttle plate and surrounding bore with an old tooth brush and some carb cleaner. Be sure to spray some into the small holes next to the throttle plate.

That sounds pretty do-able. Thanks again. I'll let you know how it turns out.
