Powerful Engine
Porsches are known as sexy, powerful machines and the Boxster RS 60 Spyder is certainly no exception. This latest model is built for speed. In fact, it is modeled after the successful Type 718 RS 60 Spyder that carried drivers to victory in Florida’s 12 Hours of Sebring race held in 1960.
Thanks to its mid-mounted engine and highly optimized sports exhaust system with dual tailpipes, the RS 60 can produce an impressive 303 hp. Other features include the standard Porsche Active Suspension Management or PASM system and 19-inch SportDesign wheels that contain spacers which push them to the end of their wells.
Eclectic Styling
The RS 60 Spyder contains an eclectic mix of classic and modern styling. For example, the vehicle features a metallic silver GT center console, silver seatbelts, door linings, hand brake lever, steering wheel rim, instrument dials and special gearshift knob. The stainless steel door sills are also engraved with the RS 60 Spyder designation.
The silver features contrast nicely with a red exposed instrument panel, rollbars and rear light clusters, as well as a black windshield surround.
The cockpit resembles a racing car, thanks to the two circular dials surrounding a large central rev counter. Consumers can choose from a dark grey interior or traditional Carrera red leather upholstery which is styled after the leather and aluminum trim seen in the previous RS 60 Spyder.
The roof will be black for consumers who opt for the dark grey leather, whereas the roof will be finished in red for purists who stick to the colour choice of the original model.
The sexy exterior of this model also pays homage to the previous RS 60 and is available in GT silver metallic. However, the current model has been updated with a unique front spoiler and 19-inch wheels.
Another nice touch is the numbered silver placard mounted on the dashboard; this denotes the vehicle as one of the 1,960 special edition RS 60 models manufactured.
