Alternative Fuel Vehicles

Toyota's Hybrid Synergy Drive System

Today’s most hot button issue, according to many, is the environment. Al Gore’s popular documentary “An Inconvenient Truth” opened many an eye about the dangers facing this planet and what we all thought were not important issues, really are indeed serious matters we must all pay attention to.

Fossil fuels and the burning of these fuels to power automobiles is a chief threat to the environment. If we want to ensure a healthy planet for our children and our children’s children, something must be done now to stop the destruction of the ozone layer and stop global warming that is no longer just a theory but proven fact.

“Going Green” is all the rage and not only will it help save the planet but it will also save you money. So it really is a win/win situation.

One company that has been in the forefront of this technology is Toyota. They have bridged the gap from inefficient electric engines with fuel guzzling motors and revolutionized the hybrid market.

Their crown jewel is the Hybrid Synergy Drive System which is featured in their Toyota Highlander. This engine is pure magic. And the industry has stood up and taken notice. No longer are hybrid engines to be mocked at as a unviable alternative power source for automobiles.

In 2004 Toyota’s Hybrid Synergy Drive System took top honors in four categories including “engine of the year” at the prestigious Engine Expo which was held in Stuttgart, Germany that year.

This is no small feat!

Awards at the Expo captured by this dynamic engine were “International Engine of the Year 2004”, “Best New Engine”, “Best Fuel Economy” and “Best Engine 1.4 liter to 1.8 Liter.”

An executive of Toyota Motor Sales, had mentioned that the Toyota's Hybrid Synergy Drive System being in a prestigious international competition proves that hybrid vehicles are now being accepted all over the world and are fast becoming a highly desirable product wanted by the public.

And how true those words were. Hybrid engines are now becoming common place and are the new standard for consumer conscious car shoppers. One no longer has to sacrifice performance and efficiency for going green.

The success of this engine has prompted Toyota to offer it in both SUV's as well as sedans. Both models are selling like crazy and have further pushed the envelope for Toyota to explore other alternative fuel technologies such as hydrogen fuel cells.

So look for green machines to be popping up everywhere and in your next purchase of a new automobile, why not take a look at the Hybrid Synergy Drive System, it might be just what you are looking for.
