MyFord Touch is a communications and entertainment inside the car system that was created by Ford Motor Company along with Microsoft. It has been described as smart, safe and simple. The system essentially connects drivers with the technologies of the inner-car digitally.

The MyFord Touch is also branded as MyLincoln Touch and MyMercury Touch for Lincoln and Mercury brand products respectively as well as on redesigns of the in-car interface.

This redesign mirrors consumers, and how they interact with most devices in their lives. You can use the touch-sensitive buttons, touch screens and voice recognition to operate the MyFord Touch system.

The system also enables the driver to operate other portable devices including:

• MP3 players
• Bluetooth
• Cell phones
• USB devices
• Text messages (receiving)
• Reading of text messages out loud.

It integrates all of these. When operating the MyFord Touch System, it can respond to voice command, touch screen input, steering wheel command, radio dials Bluetooth and Wi Fi use. This new inter face was designed to clone a dashboard of a traditional automobile with everything interconnected.

There are two 4.2″ LCD screens on both sides of one analog speedometer. In addition, there is an 8″ touch-screen LCD in the middle console. Different options can be navigated by the 5-way controls on the side of the steering wheel. There is also a media hub with 2 USB ports, a card reader (SD) and RCA video input jacks.

In terms of its interconnectivity, the MyFord Touch system offers complete Wi-Fi capability. Because of its impressive technology, the system also includes hotspot connectivity that can enable other devices to share its internet connection.

Currently, MyFord Touch is available in the following vehicles:

• 2011 Ford Edge
• 2011 Ford Explorer
• 2011 Lincoln MKX
• 2012 Ford Focus
• 2013 Ford Taurus


The MSRP stand alone is $1,000. Those consumers who purchase this option of Ford brand products will be able to get the MyFord Touch System. Other features include visual presentations of direction and information on traffic, weather maps, gas prices and even listings of movies. It can also provide a vehicle health report (i.e. vehicle diagnostics), 9-1-1 assistance (can put the driver directly in touch with a 9-1-1 operator and supports USB-connected keyboards.
