Green With ENVI, don't you mean green with envy? No, we are talking about ENVI-powered electric vehicles from Chrysler...adapted from the word "environment".
(NAPSI)-For consumers who care about the planet's future and want to take care of it, a new generation of responsible, no-compromise vehicles is inspiring a personal mobility revolution.
These electric vehicles utilize just three primary components: an electric motor to drive the wheels, an advanced lithium-ion battery system to power the electric-drive motor, and a controller that manages energy flow. The result is a completely new driving experience that delivers instantaneous acceleration and responsiveness while significantly reducing dependency on fossil fuels and CO2 emissions.
Chrysler has introduced five advanced electric-vehicle concepts/prototypes, while expressing the Company's intention to broaden its all-electric and Range-extended Electric Vehicle (REEV) portfolio across the vehicle lineup. This development is led by ENVI-representing the first four letters of "environment"-the Company's in-house organization that was formed to focus on electric-drive production vehicles and related advanced technologies.
"Chrysler's ENVI-powered electric vehicles will allow consumers to move away from their reliance on fuel stations and traditional maintenance," says Lou Rhodes-Vice President-Advanced Vehicle Engineering and President-ENVI, "and instead enjoy a new, more socially responsible level of performance-instant torque, quietness, smoothness and efficiency-that today's internal combustion engine vehicles can't offer."
Between the Company's ENVI electric-drive vehicles and GEM neighborhood electric vehicles, Chrysler expects to have thousands of electric vehicles on the road by 2013. The current concepts/prototypes include:
• Chrysler 200C EV concept--A sports sedan with 40 miles of all-electric range, this REEV is capable of a 400-mile total driving range.
• Jeep Patriot EV--Combines ENVI's REEV drive system with the industry's most capable compact sport-utility vehicle.
• Dodge Circuit EV--Boasts a range of 150 to 200 miles with zero gasoline consumption and zero tailpipe emissions.
• Jeep Wrangler Unlimited EV--A combination of capability and fuel efficiency that provides a glimpse into the future of a "Go Anywhere, Do Anything" vehicle.
• Chrysler Town & Country EV--A fuel-efficient family REEV that delivers 40 miles of all-electric range.
