The World's First Hybrid Sports Coupé -The Connaught Type-D H

It brings back memories of the fifties’ Connaught British marquee – they were known for their Grand Prix sports racing cars. The Connaught Type D Hybrid which will be available this year is a combination of style and comfort and is very much a totally British sports coupé.

The Connaught Company prides itself on its design and style capabilities combined with engineering skills. Extensive research as well as great marketing efforts and a skilled support team have helped make this concept car a reality that will soon be setting the roads on fire.

For the world’s first hybrid sports coupé, the Type D Hybrid is a beauty – stunning as far as looks go and yet practical from the point of view of economy.

The Connaught Type D H is an electric gasoline hybrid. Suddenly the hybrid car has been catapulted into the course of the mainstream cars. The four seater car comes with air-conditioning, elegant leather and shiny aluminum trims that spell luxury, push button start, keyless entry and a CD/MP3 player with six speakers.

From 0 to 60 in 6.5 seconds, the Type D Hybrid will go up to 140 mph and its combined fuel consumption is 42 mpg! Add that to the fact that it complies with the 2010 low fuel emission targets and you'll see how it is a winner on all fronts.

Type D Hybrid has a V10 22.5° engine which has an extra electric motor so it really does move without any noise. When it is idling, the gasoline engine is turned off and when the throttle is pressed on restarting, the car moves forward smoothly without a whisper. The performance is perfect and the emissions absolutely low.

The Type D Hybrid is made with lightweight steel – it only weighs 870 kg and has a 50/50 weight balance. Thanks to being lighter, it has better handling, great acceleration and fuel economy. It has a maximum power of 120 KW (162 bhp @ 6000 rpm) and 144 lb/ft torque. The transmission is a close ratio 5 speed RWD.

All in all, the Type D Hybrid is a car the Connaught Company can rightly be proud of. Granted, it has not gone all the way to ‘no emissions’ but it really does straddle the worlds between gasoline pollution and electric environment-friendly with ease.

With a car that looks like this, you don't mind such a good looking, great performing stepping stone into a greener world.
