Five Steps to a Cleaner Car

(NC)-As soon as the sun starts shinning and the weather gets a little warmer, thousands of driveways are filled with anxious Canadians ready to spruce up their cars for spring. But remembering to keep a vehicle clean throughout the tough winter season is crucial to help prevent rusting and the negative effects of the cold weather. Next time you think about putting away your car cleaning products for winter, consider the following five cleaning practices to ensure a shiny car year round.

Wax on For Winter

Wax your car in the fall before the temperatures begin to drop. Avoid waxing your car with a carnauba-only wax during the winter, as it is more difficult to buff off as temperatures drop. Gel waxes that don't require buffing work well in the cold weather.

Deep Clean the Carpet

Dirt, salt, slush and snow are tracked into the car every time the door opens so it doesn't take long for the inside of a car to go from luxurious to disastrous. Use a carpet cleaner to restore fabrics and bring them back to life.

Protect to Perfect

Ensure your vehicle's interior is protected every season by using products such as Armor All Original Protectant to help prevent cracking, fading, discolouration and premature aging.

Love Your Leather

The dry winter atmosphere can be harmful to leather interior, so leather should be treated with a gentle conditioner. Conditioners enhance leather's rich, natural beauty and restore its supple feel.

Pamper Your Wheels and Tires

Wheels need special attention in the winter since they spend most of their time covered in salt and slush. Regular use of a wheel cleaner will help prevent rust. Provide your tires with a little extra TLC this winter with a long-lasting protectant.
