Spring Training Ideas For The Automotive Enthusiast

(NC)— Spring training gives baseball players a chance to stretch their muscles, improve reflexes, and test their equipment. The automotive enthusiast would be well served to treat this time of year with the same approach. How can you take the same "batting practice" approach with your vehicles?

There is a long checklist of maintenance procedures that car and motorcycle owners can follow, including: checking tire treads for wear and tear, checking engine fluid levels and giving your automobile a good washing. Even more importantly, Philips suggests using spring as the time to replace the headlamp bulbs in your vehicle.

Improved visibility is a key component to ensuring safety while driving. Similar to regular light bulbs, headlights can loose brightness through years of use. Replacement options can depend on a number of variables including a driver's age, enthusiasm and type of vehicle. In fact, vision begins to weaken after the age of 45, and driving at dusk - when visibility is most difficult - only accentuates the problem of reduced visibility.

There is a solution, however, and it involves a good pair of glasses or contact lenses and better headlights. New lighting technology means night driving has never been safer. For example, the Philips VisionPlus headlamp bulb delivers a brighter and longer beam of light that is up to 50 feet longer than a standard halogen bulb.

In addition, no other group of "road warriors" enjoys the spring more than motorcyclists. Philips is one company that has complimented their automotive lighting products with a segment specifically tailored to those who prefer to travel on two wheels. The Philips MotoVision bulbs produce a special orange and white light that increases overall visibility and helps differentiate the motorcycle from the general road traffic. The rider's vision and safety are greatly enhanced with 40% more light and a beam of up to 60 feet longer than standard halogens.

Use this spring season as a way to get your vehicles in shape for the upcoming warm driving months.
